lessons learnt...

i know that i'm only living in nyc less than a week. however, this city already teaches me that

  • almost everything can be delivered here.. even little things from those little groceries store around the corner

  • that means one can still work as a delivery person if s/he get tired of being homeless... and believe it or not, you can earn lotta $$ just providing delivery service herenyc subway map on a bag

  • since i don't have my car anymore, when i need to do my groceries/shopping, i seriously have to think twice what items i wanna buy and how many. 'cuz it's no fun at all carrying heavy shopping bags, going up and down all the stairs in the subway station and still having to walk couple blocks home

  • having a car in nyc is a nitemare unless you live in the boroughs, even that still gives you headache

  • however, you wish you have a car when you're moving or carrying heavy stuff on your own

  • and someone gave me the solution: "do not have a car in nyc, BUT do have a friend who owns a car"

  • not all new yorkers are rude.... many are helpful... believe it or not.

  • the pedestrian sign on the traffic lights is mostly just a little decoration 'cuz most people don't follow the sign. and there's no police like the ones in portland who're gonna ticket you from jaywalking

  • food and food and food.... just name what kinda food you want! you'll find it

  • this city is soooo packed... MANY of those high rise buildings are apartments/condos. can you imagine if everybody (literally everybody) from those apartments comes down to the street all at the same time?.

  • in terms of expenses, nyc is pretty much the same as SF... yes, many items are moreeee expensive. however, you can still live in the budget if you want. it all depends on where you live, how you live, what you eat, what you shop and where you hang out... 'cuz i notice that you can always find bargain here.

  • you can lose weight easily here cheaply without joining the gym... just keep walking everywhere and take the subway. those stairs in the stations are like stairmasters....

now, i wonder if all new yorkers have firm butts... hmmm....

ok... research time! ;)
