nyc in a rush

i heard... i noticed... and i've experienced it myself... i might be wrong to come to this conclusion because i've only been here for less than a month. however, this is what i think and feel for now....

everything and everyone in this town is always in a rush... esp. how people walk and the (unquestionable!) cab drivers, among other things... people always have schedule, things to do, where to go, people to meet, etc. time is extremely crucial here. fast. fast. fast. no time for nonsense at all. take it or leave it. always know where you're going, what you wanna say, what you wanna do before you even make a tiny move. otherwise, you gotta move away or else.... however, 1 thing, that i've noticed and i thought i was the only one thinking this way, and apparently am not, is that people in this city disappear as fast as they appear. the people, who you've known for quite sometime or from where you came from, are PROBABLY the ones who still stick around longer. the ones that you know after you come to the city can disappear faster than a blink of an eye... i dunno how they manage to do it, but somehow they do :)

pretty interesting, huh? :) i'm not saying that it doesn't happen in other big cities. it does! but here, it's much much faster. this morning my roommate told me a li'l story about his 4 years adventure so far.... whoa! gotta do something!... knowing myself of how i think/expect and what i would do, i know i have to adjust SUPER FAST and lower my expectations on people super low, before i get myself into a mess...

am i regretting all this??? HELL NO! the ride is just getting started ;) it IS a bit shocking, yea.. i just need a li'l time to get used to.
