connection .. connection ..
i knew about it... heard it, had it, did it... but i never made such a big deal before... until the big apple teaches me differently. it makes a serious HUGE difference here. with millions of people exist in this city, you barely see the same person (a stranger) twice in a month. however, one way or another people are somehow connected very closely in this humungous network.
you might say 'ohh, it's everywhere..' i know! but i've never experienced this big before. it's kinda scary in a way, yet still interesting. you definitely need to watch your steps. you have no idea who/what the person standing in front of you knows. when i first moved here, i only knew a very few people... and now, i know a couple more. nothing too big, but still.. learning who they are, what they do, what and who they know make me think 'paris hilton might need 2 or 3 extra cell phones to store all her contacts'... and her life must not be as hard as many
yes, it is about 'what you know'... 'cuz it's all about survival, and you DO NOT wanna be dumb in this place. once they know you're dumb, this place and some crazy people living in it will eat you alive... at the same time, if you add 'who you know' to it, living in nyc is a bit bearable and more interesting :D
there're many good/bad things for having connections... 1 of the bad side effects i recently had is when you know some people already, you start 'hearing' stuff about certain individuals or sometimes about yourself. it all depends on you of who to believe... yes, people will always have something to say about stuff and interpret what they see with their own version of story. i know that part, however, it still sux and hurts so bad when someone who's very close to you and whom you care so much chooses to believe in others than you.
